Alva Golf Course |
|
Alva is based at the foot of the Ochill Hills and is a challenign 9 hole golf course. It boasts fantastic views and although not very long requires a great deal of accuracy and also flexibility, stamina and the requirement for one leg shorter than the other. Also bring a map! We pitched up to Alva after playing Braehead and there was no-one around and the course was dead. We played the first and then stood on the second tee and had no idea where we were going until we looked up the hill and saw were the green was (on top of Mount Everest!). Oh my god what a climb! The third was a great par 3 along the hill and then down the hill we came though 4, 5 and 6. I did not enjoy these holes one bit only due to I had my caddy car and taking it across hills I spent half the time trying to pick it back up and put it back on the trolley….Stu was in stitches! Now we mentioned a map requirement earlier. This is due to the fact that we could not find the 7th a short par 3 of 93 yards. We did eventually find it when we asked a green keeper and what a hole. Definitely the signature hole for us a short hole straight up hill….I binned the caddy car half way up. All in all a very enjoyable course but we were both knackered I’m glad we did not have to go around again but purely just down to it was our second round and we were puffed! If your in the area of the Ochill Hills on holiday or fancy going somewhere different for a change you will enjoy Alva. |
