Situated in Fife, on the East coast of Scotland, Kinghorn is an 18 hole links course with fine views over the Firth of Forth to Edinburgh. The fourth course of the day and its really busy however we are allowed to start at the 10th.
Kinghorn was a gem and Stu loved it (only because he broke 80!). The views were fantastic the course was in really good nick for the time of year and the holes were completely different. Could gladly talk you through all of the holes however the ones that stick out in our minds are the 3rd – a par 3 where you play over a wall to the green. Stu managed to hit it and see the ball soar fifty yards back to the tee. The 6th which you could take on from the tee however its far too tight and there is no point a lay up is all that is required. The 11th is a very hard par 3 but a lovely hole and the last two holes (both par 3’s) are very challenging we were lucky to play if the yellow markers as we would not fancy them off the back tees. The 17th there is no room for error with out of bounds left (and you play a blind shot!) and if your right your snookered as well as if your playing the full hole 170 off the back with a wind would be horrific.
Kinghorn is a Par 65 and is just over 5,000 yards but don’t think this course is easy. We scored well given it was a relatively calm day and we were well warmed up. However, we are sure if the wind was to blow then it would be a completely different test.
The signature hole award is a joint award for the last two holes.
This course is highly recommended.
