The Bruntsfield Short Hole golf course is located in the heart of Edinburgh overlooking The Meadows. In the background you can see Arthurs Seat and for a city location is full of greenery. The course itself is a 36 hole pitch and putt and is extremely well maintained. After playing golf for 29 years and having this on our doorstep it was about time we played the course. The course is free to play and if you wish to obtain scorecards or indeed hire clubs and balls you can get these from the Golf Tavern (which is in fact the worlds oldest clubhouse dating back to 1788. We played this lovely short course on the 18th August and is now number 130 in the tour. The course as said is 36 holes (all pars 3’s) therefore a Par 108! Stu and I played well round this course with Stu carding a 119 and Craig a 104 (consisting of seven 2’s!) – Stu also managed a to join the 2’s club! The course as said above was very well maintained and also proved to have more golfers on this short hole course with etiquette compared to some (if not all) private golf clubs. A number of non – golfers (or so it seemed) were playing and all waved us through as we raced round the course. Overall impossible to give a signature hole but was a very enjoyable experience and we would recommend if you have not ran round this course before to do so. Go down hire some clubs and then go for a drink in the Golf Tavern or The Links Hotel round the corner. |
