Liberton Golf Course |
|
Liberton Golf Club is a rolling, parkland course in the south east of Edinburgh. The fairways are tight and the greens are relatively small but well guarded, so we can offer an enjoyable and testing round of golf for all levels of golfer. All golfers out there have cam across people who take great pride in telling us itsd going to rain today its going to be miserable as if it really is going to bother us. Yeah we don’t like it but we still go out (the tour must go on!). Well Alastair Reid at my work went on about it all day saying you will never get a game of golf today well we did! On the first tee Craig, Stu and our mate Dougie tee’d off at 7.00pm in the sun it was glorious. Come the 6th it started to hose it down (note: no dongos to be seen!) by the 8th tee Dougie had packed in (6 foot 4 inches of pure blouse!). The boys carried on. To the turn Craig out in 38 (+4) and Stu 51. Then the heavens opened. Now the funniest thing happened. Stu turns to Craig so how do you score in the rain! My response was ok as long as I keep my grips dry so Craig went the next five holes in -4 for 5 holes (3,2,3,3,3). Got back to level par and when the rain stoipped on 14 and the sun came out a bogey followed at 15. A final score of one over was carded. It should be noted that the rain was that hard that the 12th hole was under water within an hour and Craigs ball into the green came to rest two feet form the hole which was the only driest bit on the green. Stu had to pitch it towards the hole as there was no-where to drop. Thunder and lightning started on the 12th tee and the boys struggled dedicated to the cause. Interesting fact though Stu is an Electrician so you could see the headlines the next day!!!!! So were was Stu’s dongo…..well Stu managed to card one at the 13th a very tricky wee par 3 that he coolly negotiated. Signature hole is the 4th were the burdiehouse burn runs to the side of the green. |
