Lochgreen Golf Course |
|
After our first experience of Ayrshire golf we thought the courses (Belleisle and Seafield) would be hard to follow however Lochgreen was simply a superb course. The course is parallel to Royal Troon and looks over the railway line on to Troon. It certainly helped that it was a scorcher and there was hardly a soul on the course. The first hole at Lochgreen doesn’t exactly break you in gently to the course as you face a 459 yard Par 4 followed up by two Par 5’s however for the longer hitter it does offer up a chance for some early birdies. Craig was fortunate enough after opening with a bogey to follow up with three birdies in a row. Stuart started off not too badly however the most memorable moment was his bump in run from about 60 yards with his rescue club that seemed to take an age to reach the hole. I was walking up the fairway as Stu hit his shot and it seemed that minutes later I was still walking and his ball was edging towards the hole. It barely reached the lip and then fell in for a par 4 on the hardest hole on the course (dongo secured). As said before Lochgreen was simply superb and thoroughly recommend readers to play there were a number of nice holes and it’s difficult to pin a signature hole however we have nominated the 6th (Par 3 – 181 yards). It is set into a nice secluded corner you play over some gorse and it has a tough bunker on the left and a bunker across the back. |
