   Taynuilt Golf Course
Taynuilt Taynuilt

Taynuilt golf course is a challenging nine hole course situated 12 miles from Oban. It was founded in 1987 and has stunning scenery of including views of Ben Cruachan and Loch Etive. First of all a big thanks to the Captain who gave us a concession and who also put up a notice informing golfers (who were playing a medal) to wave us through if they were holding us up as we had a ferry to catch.  Highland hospitality at its finest.

The weather is perfect hardly a breath of wind and very sunny.  The course was in very good condition and we were surprised at the pace of the greens compared to Dalmally as they are very similar low lying courses. Scoring improved on the morning round with Craig scoring a 33 (+1) and Stu scoring a 41 despite 3 double bogeys.  Stu also managed to play the par 3’s in just one over which is fantastic for a 22 handicapper.  Craig managed to birdie the first hole with a solid drive and wedge to a couple of feet. The golf was good with all players hitting the ball well however two interesting things happened.  Firstly, Alan’s tee shot off the first hit the overhead telephone cables.  Secondly, on the 5th Alan hit his 9 Iron and upon contact the shaft and head departed.  Much to Alan’s dismay as its like a comfort blanket to the laddie.

All in all we thought this course was superb and with Taynuilt being such a nice village it would be the ideal place to retire to with such stunning views and of course a course on your door step.  Surrounding courses include Glencruitten, Isle of Seil and Dalmally so you have a good choice of courses.  You all are at the Gateway to the Isles being 12 miles from Oban.  Highly recommended course!
